So, apparently asexual / aromantic people are basically straight unless their romantic / sexual orientation is “directed to the same gender as theirs”* .
Ok, guys ! I get it ! You want to call us, aro/ace, aro hetero , ace hetero, straight ! But, before you start doing so, may I remember you something? ( a little something. Reaaaally tiny. Don’t worry . )
Here it is: if you mean something with a word… You mean something with a word. ( Big news - I know . )
Need some more examples? Ok, I’ll show you .
So, when you say : “straight people have a lot of representation and it’s always respectul and accurate in the media regarding their orientation” , you’re also talking about aro/ace people , if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “straight people never have to worry about their orientation being a problem for the people who surround them ”, you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “ straight people can learn what they need to know about their orientation in sex ed; at least more than anyone else “, you’re also talking about aro/ace people , if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “ straight people never have the pressure to try to change their orientation”,
you’re also talking about aro/ace people , if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “ straight people’s orientation is always taken seriously “,
you’re also talking about aro/ace people , if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “straight people’s never risk to have people trying to cure their orientation “,
you’re also talking about aro/ace people , if we’re “straight”.
When you say “ straight people never felt their orientation was an illness”, you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re “straight” .
When you say : “ straight people never have to look for their orientation, because their orientation is everywhere “ , you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re “straight”.
When you say : “ straight people never have to come out as straight, because they are expected to be straight “ , you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re “straight” .
When you say “ straight people don’t have to fear any kind of violence because of their orientation “, you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re “straight” .
When you say : “ straight people never feel lost, alone, misunderstood, terrible, disgusting, scared because of their orientation “, you’re also talking about aro/ace people, if we’re called “straight” .
So, when you say “ aro / ace people who aren’t attracted to the same gender are basically straight “, this is what you mean. Because this is what straight means. It means having all those privileges .
And we don’t.
* it’s never their (a)gender(s) for some reason by the way, why so much cissexism when you’re LGBQ+ ? Not every person who’s gay / bi / pan / etc … has one gender, let alone a gender, so why would they have to be “ attracted to their gender “ to be so ? No, don’t answer, I know why.
Thank you @ye-lost-bard for sending this because it’s a MOOD. This post makes very good points that a lot of anti-aro/ace people don’t like to think about because if they did, they’d realize how hypocritical their stance is.
